Big Government Destroys the Black Family

Jason Riley is an African-American writer for the Wall Street Journal and he has chronicled for us once again what is the worst curse on black people in America. It’s the disintegration of the Black family, a destruction caused almost totally by liberal government policies. The Left believes Big Government should replace the family, the church, and everything else. Marx hated the family because it is the chief obstacle to his schemes for centralizing power. We see the same ideology today in many government bureaucracies.

But the absence of fathers is the source of every social pathology in the black community. Crime, drugs, poverty. You name it.

And government policy is the greatest cause of the absent father. Our government—and every government in the West—insists that the father can and should be replaced by the government. That government is a better source of support than a father. They subsidize the fatherless family and remove fathers from the family equation. And the result is unmitigated disaster. Riley points out that in our society, “Asians are the highest earners, followed by whites, Hispanics and blacks. Similarly, Asians have the highest marriage rates, followed by whites, Hispanics and blacks. Maybe it’s no coincidence.” Another stunning quote from Riley, “The black family was more intact after three centuries of chattel slavery than after three generations of the federal government’s ‘war’ on poverty.”

The answer is to go back to the family structure God prescribes in the Bible. One man, one woman, and their children. It’s the answer for the black family and everyone else.
